Space to become attuned
One word I keep returning to in my thinking about learning is attuned. It brings many colours of meaning to mind: listening, resonance, harmony, depth, nuance, evolved knowing, connection, repeated interaction …
I think I keep coming back to it because, as guides for a teacher’s practice, they’re pretty good colours. Especially if you think that knowing your learners deeply matters.
And, when I think about learning that’s been ‘sticky’ for me, being and becoming attuned has been a key element.
This way of learning is highly personal. So creating space for it to happen in an already crowded day at school is tough. But not impossible.
