What do you want your learners to be able to do?
I used to point at that and think it was enough.
By the end of today’s lesson, you will be able to …
For many kids, this approach was sufficient. They’d get on with the task. They’d show they were able. I liked those kids.
But there’s a path towards able that’s not about tasks and the work to be done.
That path is about emotions, identity, and relationships. It took me years to realise that I would never see what the kids who weren’t in the ‘many’ category were able to do if I didn’t think about what I could do to make that path one worth walking on.
Today’s message from Pluto
“Hello. So good to be with you. Woof!!!”
I’m taking a break over Easter. See you next Tuesday.
