Hi everyone
First, thanks to you all for being a part of The Smata Bulletin. It’s slowly growing, and there have been nice comments thrown my way about it, which really helps with the motivation to keep going!
Issue #4 is almost done, and will fly into the inboxes of all full subscribers on Friday afternoon, which is a bit later than normal. I hope you’ll forgive the delay. In Issue #4
Whispers are heard about spaces for innovation and rethinking school
Bevan argues assessment theory shows it to be a space of emotions, not objective neutrality
The book Syllabus by Lynda Barry prompts thoughts about opening up spaces for wonder
Dr Martyn Reynolds of Victoria University writes about relational space from a Pasifika perspective
I’ve decided to unbundle the podcast from the monthly bulletin and run that as something separate, sort of a regular ‘special’. Finding the time to put the written component together, as well as organise, record and edit a podcast each month became a bit too much.
Apologies also for the absence of the live chat. I’ve been travelling mid-week lately, a trend that will continue for another couple of weeks. It will return though.
In mega exciting news, the Smata app is now available on the Google Play and Apple App Stores. In my work I kept getting asked the question, How do I keep track of learning and know what to do next? The Smata app is my answer. It’s easy to use. It enables teachers to capture learning information as it happens, and then graphs it so that planning is reflective of the learning. Review whole class or individual student graphs. Dive deep into captured learning moments.
