Play is not a boundless pursuit. It is always framed by something, be it the place, the people involved, or the playground.

Boundaries

There are two ways to think about boundaries: 

  • Functional ones: eg, rules, limits, expectations.

  • Imaginative ones: inviting the firing of imaginations with story, excitement, questions, and what’s possible in the environment.
