These ways of starting a lesson all act upon the kids' minds differently. We could say they invite specific emotional and intellectual ‘workouts’. Some make kids more dependent on you, others help them feel capable and agentic.
Do one or two with enough regularity, and certain ways of relating to learning become stronger.
