There are three elements to a playground:
Things that are fixed.
Things that are fleeting.
Roles that are assumed.
Your classroom is much the same. The trick is to infuse the space with a resonance that’s closer to a playground than it is to the dry and mundane one that typifies many classrooms.
Today’s message from Pluto
“A little bit of joy goes a long way. Wooff!!!”
Something to try that might make a difference
Want to inject a playful resonance into your classroom?
Start with a small part of the week where you can invite kids into something meaty.
A big question? A puzzle of some kind? Something provocative to chew on? A challenge to explore?
The key is in the invite - make it imagination-oriented, not functional and instruction based.
