In the last post I said that learners feeling that they’re interesting is a way to help them be curious.
What do I mean by this?
Well, one thing I’ve found is that in classrooms where kids (especially older kids and teenagers) are in charge of their learning, they start to feel that who they are and what they’re into has a place in the world.
In other words, they start to feel they are interesting.
A great way to foster this feeling is to adopt an official yes policy. — Too quickly we judge kids’ ideas as not sophisticated enough and we shut them down.
Just say yes.
You’ll be amazed at what they can do with the simplest of ideas … As long as you go along for the ride with them.
