A mind for learning
Here’s something fascinating: the brain and gut are deeply connected, so much so that it makes more sense to think of the mind as a system than to think of it as a thing (ie, the brain).
I can’t help but think there are profound implications here for how we think learning happens. No longer are we in a world where learning is about getting stuff from short-term memory into long-term memory.
No, now we’re in a world where learning is deeply entwined with emotions, with feelings - with our gut reactions - and the workings of our brains.
Which one is in control, do you think?
